Harissa is a classic table accompaniment in Moroccan cooking and at the Moroccan table. Mustaphas Harissa is the gold standard and nothing sold in here in the USA can really compare. Made mainly from Moroccan hot red chiles, red bell pepper, olive oil, a touch of tomato, oil, salt and spices. It is an essential accompaniment at the Moroccan table, and almost as ubiquitous as olives.
Mustaphas harissa is served alongside couscous and tagines, it has an unforgettably intense, slow burn that will spice up any dish - each diner can stir it into the accompanying dish to suit personal taste. Its relatively salty quality takes to lifting the flavors of milder foods such as couscous.
You can serve tiny dabs of harissa as a side sauce for grilled and roast meats and poultry, or use it as a general flavor booster for stews, soups and sauces. If you're looking to create an authentic Moroccan meal, this is an accompaniment.

I've been to morocco many times and discovered harissa on my second trip there and fell in love with it. I actually brang some back but when I ran out I purchased some of this stuff and was very disappointed. Doesn't taste like the real harissas I tried in morocoo. I guess I'll wait till I go back for more.
Bland food no more. I like to use it with meats, especially chicken or good sausages but it can be used with almost anything. This is an amazing blend of spicy and salty with just an amazing flavor. Use it as an ingredient or as a condiment and you will not be disappointed. Since discovering this several years ago I cannot leave it alone. If you have never tried this before, then treat yourself to something wonderful.
I have used this product in tagine dishes. It adds just the right amount of kick to the ingredients. I use about a tablespoon and that is enough without being overbearing.
I have tried several versions of Harissa and nothing comes even close to this one. It is a terrible shame that Amazon is out because now I need to learn how to make it myself. There is no possible way I will come close - Mustapha's Harissa is the stuff.
This mixture gets top ratings on web sites. I haven't tried it yet but assume the reviewers know what they are writing about.
